At least once a week a movie of the Sun taken by NASA's Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) is posted by one of the scientists operating the instrument.

A Remarkably Rapid Ribbon

Late last month, IRIS caught a C-class flare using a very high-cadence observing program. The fast SJI cadence (~8 seconds) captured the onset of the flare ribbon(s), which occurred at an extraordinary pace. From start to finish, the ribbon reached peak intensity in under one minute.
