IRIS Movie of the Day
At least once a week a movie of the Sun taken by NASA's Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) is posted by one of the scientists operating the instrument.
Always on the watch for increasing solar activity

The beginning of May 2023 was a very exciting period for solar flare observations. Active regions present on the Sun produced multiple large flares, every day. In a single observation from May 3, IRIS captured four solar flares within the same active region, and this is not where the story ends. Thanks to a careful planning and coordinated efforts, some of these flares were captured by multiple solar telescopes and other instruments. As such, data resulting from this campaign will serve researchers studying plasma controlled by Sun's highly-evolving magnetic fields.
