IRIS Movie of the Day
At least once a week a movie of the Sun taken by NASA's Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) is posted by one of the scientists operating the instrument.
Magnificent Loops from AR13296

During its pass from one limb of the Sun to limb to the other, AR13296 was one of the most active ARs seen so far in solar cycle 25. It produced 78 C or M class flares during a 2 week span. Even once it reached the limb, it continued to be active. While not captured by IRIS, an eruptive event seen by AIA shows a large amount of material being lifted off the disk. But IRIS did capture the material being pulled back down following lift off. The material can be seen to be pulled and curled around the fields of the region, resulting in magnificent loop structures suspended above the region!
