IRIS Movie of the Day
At least once a week a movie of the Sun taken by NASA's Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) is posted by one of the scientists operating the instrument.
A beautiful explosion on the surface of the Sun.

A confined eruption from a flare in AR 13262. A small loop system can be seen stretching between two independent ribbons, before a jet can be seen propagating upwards towards the top right of the field-of-view. Plasma motions along the line-of-sight were perfectly captured by the IRIS slit running north-south through the centre of the event.
