IRIS Movie of the Day
At least once a week a movie of the Sun taken by NASA's Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) is posted by one of the scientists operating the instrument.
Flare in slow motion

On March 31st, 2022, IRIS captured the second largest flare observed in 2022 so far, and one of the strongest flares in the current solar cycle. IRIS observed this flare at very high cadence, taking about 75 images per minute, which allow us to see it develop in unique, "slow motion" detail.
