IRIS Movie of the Day
At least once a week a movie of the Sun taken by NASA's Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) is posted by one of the scientists operating the instrument.
Two Similar Flares

In this movie we see two B-class solar flares occur in sequence. Both of these flares look very similar in appearance, with clear ribbons. Sequential flares such as these can be a very important source of information for researchers into the triggering mechanisms of solar flares.
