IRIS Movie of the Day
At least once a week a movie of the Sun taken by NASA's Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) is posted by one of the scientists operating the instrument.
A solar fireworks display

Solar activity builds over the course of this 12-hour sequence, culminating in a bright M-class flare. Earlier, smaller brightenings are seen tens of thousands of kilometers apart across the image, illustrating the vast network of magnetic connectivity in the sun's atmosphere. The M-class flare is the "grand finale" of this solar fireworks display.
