Solar activity has started to ramp up this month, with the frequency of larger class flares increasing as we move into the new solar cycle. However - smaller flares have much to teach us too, and their observations are just as informative as those of more explosive events. Here, at a stunning rate of 1.7 seconds per frame, we see low level flaring produce a complex network of flare ribbons.
