IRIS Movie of the Day
At least once a week a movie of the Sun taken by NASA's Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) is posted by one of the scientists operating the instrument.
Lightbridge and Flare

This is an excellent example of a sunspot "lightbridge". The bright, hotter gas spans across the entire extent of the sunspot. If that weren't enough, IIS also observed many brightening and flares just to the left of this sunspot.
