Waves in a sunspot

In this image we see an observation taking by IRIS of an active region with a sunspot (the dark region in the center). We can also see beautiful oscillating patterns in the center off the sunspot. These patterns are waves from deeper inside the sun traveling into the suns atmosphere along the magnetic field lines of the sunspot. These observations are not only beautiful, they might also be able to help scientists to further explore energy transport in the solar environment.
