IRIS Movie of the Day
At least once a week a movie of the Sun taken by NASA's Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) is posted by one of the scientists operating the instrument.
Solar explosions and loop arcades

Loop arcades are highly dynamic structures that suspend solar plasma thousands of kilometers above the surface against the force of gravity. They can be disrupted during eruptions and part of plasma falls back onto the Sun. Understanding how they are formed and what drives the eruptions is still a great challenge.
