IRIS Movie of the Day
At least once a week a movie of the Sun taken by NASA's Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) is posted by one of the scientists operating the instrument.

The active region AR 12738 was site of some of the most spectacular explosive events of 2019. On April 12th IRIS captured this flare ribbon that extends across the whole field-of-view that is more than 127000 km (or 79000 miles) on the surface of the Sun!
