IRIS Movie of the Day
At least once a week a movie of the Sun taken by NASA's Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) is posted by one of the scientists operating the instrument.
C1.5 Flare with clear ribbon

The movie presents an interesting flare with an ellipse shape and two bright patches on the East side of the flaring region. The South part of the flare occurs first. It has an arch shape and is significantly brighter than the rest of the flare. Then, the clear and fast evolving ribbon is visible in the North part of the flare. The region is bright again at the end of the observation (after 8:40).
