IRIS Movie of the Day
At least once a week a movie of the Sun taken by NASA's Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) is posted by one of the scientists operating the instrument.

Loops, rain, and spicules.

This movie shows a few different features common on the Sun. The most obvious are the large loops extending above the Sun's surface. These loops show the structure of the magnetic field of the Sun. We can also see cool material "rain" down these loops. Finally, the small jet-like features close to the surface are known as spicules.
