IRIS Movie of the Day
At least once a week a movie of the Sun taken by NASA's Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) is posted by one of the scientists operating the instrument.

Limb Flare in AR12555

IRIS observed the beginning phase of a B5.0 flare in AR12555 on the west limb. This movie shows the eruption and plasma flows as seen in Si IV (1400 angstrom). AR12555 emerged near the west limb and was only a few days old when these observations were taken.
